Fort Wayne & Beyond Beer News - February 1

Starting on February 6th, BakerStreet  restaurant http://www.bakerstreetfortwayne.com/news/craft-beer-coming-to-bakerstreet will debut their 17 different bottled beer list.  They will feature beers from Victory, Bells, Dark Horse, Stone, and a rotating selection from Three Floyds to give you a taste of just some of the breweries whose beers will be on the beer list.  Check out the link above to read more of what beers they will be offering starting on February 6th.

Chick Beer.  Yes, there is a beer called Chick Beer (http://chickbeer.com/) which is a light beer that is specifically marketed to, that's right, WOMEN!!  The beer label depicts a little black dress and yes the color Pink is also on the label.  Chick Beer is available at Belmont Beverage stores in Fort Wayne.  The beer is advertised as having 97 calories and 3.5 grams of carbs.  Here is a link to a story about Chick Beer that appeared in the local Fort Wayne newspaper today (http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20120201/FEAT/302019990).  If  by chance you are wondering if I HAVE tried this beer geared towards women, the answer is no.  If by chance you are wondering if I am GOING  to try this beer geared towards women, well I will leave you with this... my husband brought home 1 bottle of this beer 2 days ago and it has yet to be opened.  Ladies, what do you think about a beer that has been marketed specifically for women?  If you have had this beer, did you like/dislike it?  Thoughts/ideas??

If you are going to be in the Columbus, OH area this Saturday, February 4th, AleFest (http://alefest.com/) will be taking place at the Aladdin Shrine Center Ballroom from 2p.m.-6p.m.  The cost is $40pp and includes 20 samples, a tasting glass and a tasting guide.  The event is being advertised as having "over 250 Craft Beers from more than 100 world class breweries."  The beers also include "rare draught and cask" beers.  AleFest also has more events listed on their website.

Did I say I was NOT going to try this beer? NO, I DID NOT say that. Sounds like you have formed the opinion that I am not going to try the beer which is entirely wrong. Carry on. Cheers!

Sorry to be late to the party on this, but Chick Beer did beat a challenge group of major light beers in an independent blind tasting, by a ratio of 3:1. It may not be a double IPA, but for 97 calories/3.5 carbs, it's an excellent beer.
