Upcoming Fort Wayne Beer Events - May 13

Join in the fun on Friday, May 17th, for Cap n' Cork's 3rd Annual Craft Beer Tasting.  Below are the details for this event:

Beoir Go Leoir:

Beoir Go Leoir (which is Gaelic for "lots of beer" and is pronounced "beer galore") is coming up on May 18. Tickets are limited, so get them now at the pub or at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/343870.  Also, Jason Dow from Bell's Brewery, will bring a firkin of Kalamazoo Stout. If you purchase a VIP ticket, you will also get to enjoy a couple of very special cellared beers: Barrel Aged Old Rasputin, 14th Anniversary Russian Imperial Stout by North Coast Brewing, and a Red Horizon ale brewed with sake yeast by Norway's famous Nøgne Ø Brewing Company.  If you are a true beer lover, don't miss your chance to sample these tasty beers!

JK's is closing the street in front of the pub with a huge tent, 40+ breweries represented and over 100 beers to sample.  Ticket prices are: General Admission is $40 in advance ($50 on the day of the event) and includes your very own signature tasting glass that's yours to take with you after the event. VIP admission is $65 ($75 on the day of the event) and includes a lanyard with a JK signature tasting glass and a T-shirt as well as a private hour to enjoy our appetizers and get a jump start on sampling the beers.

- Baltic Thunder Porter - According to Victory's website, "Truly a worldly beer. Baltic Thunder represents the Baltic Porter style admirably. Exhibiting the enticing, toffee roast of the British porter that originated the style in the 18th century, and the soothing, subtle fruit nuance of contemporary brews that flourish from Helsinki to Vilnius today, this dark lager honors the Baltic god of thunder. Created by an inspired collaboration of brewers and tempered with a touch of turmoil, Baltic Thunder rolls on to bring you enchanting light as the darkness fades."  The ABV (Alcohol by volume) is 8.5%.

- Festbier - According to Victory's website, "Seductively smooth, this medium-bodied amber beauty is akin to the great Oktoberfest beers of Munich. All German malts and whole flower European hops make this lager true to style."  The ABV (Alcohol by volume) is 5.6%.

- Hop Wallop - According to Victory's website, "We celebrate the pioneering spirit of old Horace ‘Hop’ Wallop and those who dare mighty adventurous things in this vivid, robust ale. As our annual homage to the hop harvest, expect loads of aromatic splendor and bitter beauty."  The ABV (Alcohol by volume) is 8.5%.

- Storm King Stout - According to Victory's website, this beer "With a huge, Pacific Northwest hop   aroma & character upfront, Storm King Stout^® subsides into massive, roast malt complexity. Rich and substantial, it will warm your heart."  The ABV (Alcohol by volume) is 9.1%.

A brewery representative from Victory will also be at the event.

Bakerstreet Steakhouse (http://www.bakerstreetfortwayne.com/) located at 4820 No. Clinton St., will be having a Mexican Street Food Craft Beer event.  This event will feature 12 craft beers (2 beers from each of the following breweries at the six (6) Mexican street food stations:

In addition to my blog on August 14th about the Mad Anthony OktoBEERfest, Mad Anthony Brewing and Rock 104 will be giving away two (2) tickets to the Great American Beer Festival (GABF) http://www.greatamericanbeerfestival.com/ which takes place in Denver, CO from October 11-13, 2012.  Along with the two (2) tickets to the event also included are airfare and hotel. Saturday, August 25:

AleFest Dayton ( http://www.alefest.com/dayton.htm) takes place from 2p.m.-5p.m. at Carillon Historical Park.  $35.00 in advance ($40.00 day of the event)

The price of admission includes 20 samples of craft beer, tasting glass, sampling guide, live entertainment, and raffle entry for a Yuengling Brewery trip.

Designated driver/non-drinker $15.00 and are purchased at the gate. The cost includes a bottle of water and an AleFest sampling glass as you exit.

Fort Wayne/New Haven Events/Updates - July 18

It is GREAT seeing more and more beer events taking place in Fort Wayne as more and more people are taking the leap into trying microbrewed beers and liking them!!  Having said that, I met up with a friend last week who was not extremely familiar with microbrews and my friend started sampling like there was no tomorrow!  After all was said and done, my friend not only ended up drinking not one, but two of the Flat 12 Moustache Rider beers, and wants to get together soon and go to a couple of beer establishments in downtown Fort Wayne!  It just goes to show that one doesn't know unless one tries!!

Stone IPA on the hop handle and Tyranena Brewer's Gone Wild Dirty Old Man (Rye Porter, 7.9% ABV) and Sierra Nevada Hoptimum (Imperial IPA, 10.4% ABV).

Fort Wayne Events - June 15

S&V Liquors at 9960 Illinois Road will have their annual S&V Summer Bash tomorrow, June 16th, from 5p.m.-8p.m.  Approximately 50 beers will be available for your sampling pleasure along with food which includes those delicious cheese samples from the Cheeseman Store and new to the event this summer will be Dawson's Famous Coney Dogs.  This event is a lot of fun to attend to sample some tasty craft beers and munchies!  (Must be 21 yrs. of age or older with valid Government-issued photo ID)

Belmont Beverage in the Time Corners Shopping Center is having a Summer Kick-Off Tasting today from 6p.m.-8p.m.  This is a FREE beer tasting featuring beers from Abita, Southern Tier and Victory to a name a few.  Come out and sample some beers and find a new beer to enjoy this Summer!  (Must be 21 yrs. of age and older with valid Government-issued ID.)

Cap n' Cork in Covington Plaza is having a FREE Head Southwest for Free Samples beer tasting today from 5p.m.-7p.m.  They will feature beers from Boulevard, Victory, and Blue Dawg to name a few.  Come out and sample some free beers and find a new beer or two or three to enjoy during this warm weather!  (Must be 21 yrs. of age and older with valid Government-issued ID.)

Dash-In in Downtown Fort Wayne has Three Floyds Pride and Joy back on tap for $4.00 and $3.00 on Thursdays.  Speaking of Thursdays, EVERY Thursday Dash-In offers $1.00 off all draft beers!!  Sounds like a good deal to me!

800 Degrees Three Fires is now open at 5215 Illinois Road (260-416-0005).  Click on this link for a story that was recently published in the Journal Gazette http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20120604/FEAT0111/120609837/1131.  They have 14 beer taps which when they opened last week included beer from Left Hand, Three Floyds, Upland, Dark Horse, Lexington Brewing Company, Tyranena, Southern Tier, North Coast, Founders, Flat 12, Stone, Bosteels in Belgium, Peroni, and Pabst.  Not only do they have a great beer selection, but their pizza is very tasty.  Nothing like a great tasting beer to go along with a great tasting pizza!!

JK O'Donnell's has tapped the Gnomegang, A Belgian Strong Pale Ale brewed by Ommegang in collaboration with Chouffe. We have this specialty beer along with the Chouffe Biere du Soleil in celebration of Gnome week. Remember to stop in tomorrow night for the world's tiniest toast at 6:66pm (7:06pm). Fort Wayne & New Haven Happenings - May 14

In celebration of American Craft Beer Week, this Friday, May 18th, from 5p.m.-7p.m., Cap n' Cork Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, will be having their most popular tent event...the Craft Beer Fest.  The event location this year will be held at Northbrook Shopping Center in front of the Arena Bar & Grill located at 1567 W. Dupont Road.  There will be 100 or so different beers to sample!!  The cost?  There is none!!  This event is FREE!!!  Come on out and enjoy the fun of sampling some tasty beers to celebrate American Craft Beer Week!  (Must be 21 yrs. of age or over with valid photo ID)

Belmont Beverage on Illinois Road, Fort Wayne, has weekly FREE craft beer tastings on Fridays from
