Misc News – Oct 14

Bloomington's Jason Mundy sends this along to other homebrew clubs: "501(c)7 Homebrew Clubs Must File With IRS By Oct. 15 From the article, it appears homebrew clubs are in danger of losing their tax exempt status if they have not filed taxes in the past three years. Friday is the deadline to avoid this."

RB-Cake Rock Bottom, 86th St, Indy unleashed Liz's Pumpkin Pie Spice ale last night and also celebrated her GABF medal.

  • Pumpkin Ale - Not overpowering, bitter trumps sweet in the long finish. Filling. Pretty darn good.
  • Liz also brewed a 2nd batch of Naked Oatmeal Stout (see list of silver medal winners at GABF). The first batch had the effect of lightening distinctly during the quaffing. This batch is more dark chocolate that hangs on in the finish.
  • She also has a Bourbon Vanilla Brown on the hand-pull that has been nicely aged to a vanilla oak nose that strengthens in the taste and gives a sweet honey-like finish.
  • Merry Prankster is a 7.2% Double Red where the malt and all get doubled for a big bitter finish.
  • Next Stout up for Liz will be an Imperial Stout that may just be the Replicale for the B.I.G. Winterfest. That's just a rumor.
